Sell on MorphMarket

Sell on MorphMarket builds a file of every animal you've marked For sale, in the format MorphMarket's own Import accepts. You upload it on MorphMarket, and your ads are created or updated from your ScaleVault records: title, traits, price, sex, date of birth, weight, photos, description, origin and diet.

MorphMarket doesn't offer a way for other apps to post ads directly, so the last step, uploading the file, happens on MorphMarket.

This feature is in beta on Adult plan and above (Adult, Colony, Apex). Editors, admins and owners can use it.

Get your animals ready

Open Sell on MorphMarket from the menu. Every animal marked for sale is listed with what will be sent:

  • A red mark means something is missing and the animal is left out until it's fixed, usually a price or the MorphMarket category.
  • A yellow mark is a warning: no photos, no sex or hatch date, a trait MorphMarket may not recognise, or a food it couldn't match to MorphMarket's diet list. The animal still goes in the file.

Hover an icon or a highlighted cell to see what's wrong.

Make changes for MorphMarket

Click a cell to change it for that animal, then select Save (or press Enter). To change a column for several animals at once, tick them, choose the column under Change, pick or type the value, and select Apply. The change only affects what goes to MorphMarket; the animal's ScaleVault record stays as it is. Edited values show in bold italic, and Reset to ScaleVault's value undoes them.

Photos come from the animal's photos, so they're changed on the animal. An ad being taken down always goes as Sold or Not For Sale.

Category is different: it's saved on the species, so every animal of that species uses it. ScaleVault guesses it from the species name the first time; confirm or change it once.

Use the Export switch on a row to leave an animal out of this file.

Upload to MorphMarket

  1. Select Download file, or Copy for MorphMarket to copy the same file as text and paste it instead.
  2. On MorphMarket, open Animal Manager → Import.
  3. The first time, choose Synchronize/Replace. After that, choose Synchronize.
  4. Upload the file (or paste the copied text) and select Import.

About the first upload: Synchronize/Replace archives every MorphMarket ad that isn't in the file, including ads you made by hand there. That's what stops your existing ads from being duplicated. The new ads start with fresh view and inquiry counts. Before your first upload, make sure every animal you're still selling is marked for sale in ScaleVault.

After that, Synchronize updates the same ads every time (prices, descriptions, photos) and never archives anything.

When an animal sells

When an animal you've exported is no longer for sale, it stays in the list as Taking down until your next export. If it departed as Sold its ad is marked Sold; otherwise it's marked not for sale. This also works for an animal you delete from ScaleVault after exporting it: it shows as Deleted from ScaleVault and its ad is marked not for sale.

ScaleVault can't tell whether you uploaded a file, so for 30 days after an ad is taken down it stays in the list as Sent, switched off. If you never uploaded that file, switch it on and export again.

Photos

Photos go as links that MorphMarket copies when it imports, so your ScaleVault photos don't need to stay public afterwards. The animal's main photo comes first. Videos and documents aren't sent.
