1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your username, optional email address, and account name. As you use the Service, we store the animal records, feeding logs, enclosure data, and other content you create.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve the Service. This includes: authenticating your sessions, delivering password reset emails, enforcing plan limits, displaying your data back to you, and analyzing usage patterns to improve features and reliability. We will never sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except as strictly necessary to operate the Service (e.g., payment processing or email delivery) or as required by law.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a SQLite database on our servers. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We use HTTPS for all connections in production. We implement security headers, rate limiting, and input validation to protect your data.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services: Paddle for payment processing (if you upgrade to a paid plan) and Resend for transactional emails (password resets, OTP authentication, and optional notification digests). These services have their own privacy policies.

5. Data Export & Deletion

You can export your data at any time using the CSV export feature or full-account JSON backup. To request full account deletion, contact support at support@scalevault.app. Deletion requests are processed within 7–14 business days; you will receive an email confirmation once your account and all associated data have been permanently removed. All data created by sub-users (additional users invited to an account) is owned by the account owner and is included in exports and deletions.

6. Cookies & Sessions

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics pixels, or third-party advertising cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes.
