Species & the standard library

Every animal belongs to a species. A species record carries the husbandry baseline — temps, humidity, foods, incubation — so you only have to research it once.
Your account species
Manage at /species. Each entry has:
- Common + scientific name
- Enclosure temperature range (min and max, °F)
- Enclosure humidity range (low and high, %)
- Foods — comma-separated list. The first food is the default for quick feed.
- Notes — free text. Care reminders, supplier links, etc.
- Incubation days — average egg incubation period.
- Incubation temperature & humidity ranges — defaults that clutches can override.
Standard species library

Open the species page → Standard library to browse the shared catalog of common pet herps. Click Add to my collection to copy one in. The new account-level record can be edited freely.
The notes field is automatically prepended with a research disclaimer when you import. These ranges are general husbandry references — always verify against species-specific care sheets and your own keeping experience before relying on them. They are a starting point, not gospel.
Adding a species not in the library
Click + Add species and fill in what you know. If you'd like a species added to the shared library so other keepers can pull from it, open a support request from the Help → Contact support form.
