Hobbyist walkthrough
You have one or a handful of pet reptiles and want a clean record of their care. Here's the smallest possible setup.
What you'll create
- One species per kind of animal you keep.
- One enclosure per animal (1:1 — easier to scan QR codes that way).
- One animal per enclosure.
- A printed QR code for one-tap feeding.
Step by step
- Sign up — see First-time setup steps 1–4.
- Skip what you don't need. Don't bother with sites, members, pairings, clutches, or lineages. Hide nav items you don't use under account → display preferences (coming soon).
- Print one QR per animal. From the animal detail page → QR tab → choose actions (usually just Feed and Handle) → print to a small label.
- Scan & log. Open your phone camera at the enclosure, scan the code, fill in the prefilled feed form, hit save. About 8 seconds.
Day-to-day usage
| Action | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Log a feeding | Scan QR or animal page → Feed | Defaults to species food + last amount |
| Log a weight | Animal page → Weights → + | Optional; great for charting growth |
| Note a shed | Animal page → Sheds → + | Plain date; useful to track shed cycles |
| Vet visit | Animal page → Events → + → "Vet" | Free-form notes + photo of any meds/labels |
| Photo update | Animal page → Photos → upload | Front-of-card image is the latest you upload |
Plan tier
The Hatchling plan is free and covers up to 20 animals and 12 enclosures. If you're collecting more than that, the Juvenile plan ($5/mo) lifts those limits to 100 animals and 50 enclosures and adds CSV export, handling logs, and feeder colony tracking.
